X/Twitter Glossary
Engagement rate is the percentage of people who interact with your content (likes, replies, retweets, quotes) compared to how many saw it.
Engagement rate measures how actively your audience interacts with your content. It's calculated by dividing total engagements (likes + replies + retweets + quotes) by impressions, then multiplying by 100. For example, if a post gets 1,000 impressions and 50 total engagements, your engagement rate is 5%. Some creators calculate engagement rate based on follower count instead of impressions, but the impressions-based calculation is more accurate since not all followers see every post.
Engagement rate is arguably the most important metric for X growth. The algorithm prioritizes content with high engagement, showing it to more people. A post with high engagement rate will get pushed to more feeds, creating a snowball effect. Low engagement rate signals to the algorithm that your content isn't resonating, limiting its reach.
Poast Metrics tracks your engagement rate over time and shows you which content types drive the highest engagement.
